Polish Goulash

Easy Goulash (gulasz) with potatoes and pickles. One of favorite Polish dishes served in traditional style. Potatoes and pickles give it a unique taste, making it a very satisfying meal. Na zdrowie :)

Polish Goulash


Ingredients/ What You Need 

  • Beef (Shoulder)
  • 1 Large White Onion 
  • Bay Leaves (2-3) 
  • Salt 
  • Black Pepper 
  • Sweet Paprika 
  • Flour 
  • Cooking Oil 

Tips

Goulash is traditionally served with boiled potatoes and polish pickles :) 

When adding in spices feel free to add as much or as little as you'd like :)

Preparation

  1. Take your white onion and slice it into thin slices and cut your meat into long strips then into ½ inch cubes.
  2. Now you can add your onions into your frying pan on medium heat with 2 TBSP cooking oil. You want them to caramelize. 
  3. Take your beef and put it into a mixing bowl and add in 1 TSP Salt, ½ TSP Black Pepper, 1 TSP Sweet Paprika and use your hands to mix it all together. 
  4. Checking back on your onions ,You can give it a mix or two , Adding in 4 Cloves of Garlic . You want to let it simmer and cook for a few minutes , stirring occasionally.
  5. Now you can add in your beef and Bay Leaves, mixing it from time to time until it is fully cooked.
  6. The juice from the meat and the onions will help you make your gravy . Slowly sprinkle  in some flour mixing it in , If it gets too thick you can add in water . Monika added in 1 Cup of water . 
  7. Now you can leave it to simmer for about two minutes to bring out all the flavors. You can taste test to see if you'd like to add more salt or pepper to your tasting :)
