Polish Chicken Devolaj

Traditional Polish recipe for fried chicken breast filled with cheese, butter and parsley - kotlet devolaj

Polish Chicken Devolaj


Ready in 20-30  minutes

Ingredients/ What You Need

  • 1 Stick of butter 
  • Mozzarella 
  • Cilantro 
  • 2 Chicken breast halves 
  • Salt 
  • Pepper 
  • Flour 
  • 2 Eggs 
  • Bread Crumbs 
  • Oil to fry 

Preparation

  1. First you can take your stick Of butter and cut it into little squares , Along with your cheese which you can cut into sticks. 
  2. Chop your Cilantro bunch up into small pieces  
  3. Now you can grab your chicken breast halves and cut into it halfway , you want it to open like a book so don't cut it all the way through :) 
  4. Taking a meat mallet , using the smaller end , you will hit the chicken a few times, tenderizing it on each side and adding salt and pepper on both sides to your liking :) 
  5. Once finished you can now add in your butter, cheese and cilantro inside the chicken.
  6. Once you've added the butter , cheese and cilantro you want to roll up your chicken like a burrito , making sure to fold in the sides.
  7. To prep your pan for frying you can add in any cooking oil of your choice , making sure the entire bottom is covered .
  8. While waiting on your frying pan to heat up you can grab 3 bowls or 3 loaf pans . In one you can crack your two eggs and mix it with salt and pepper (to your liking) Until fully combined . In the others you can put your flour and bread crumbs.
  9. Now you are going to dip your rolled up chicken breasts  into the flour, egg and then bread crumbs in that order, being sure to cover all sides , even the ends :) 
  10. Once your frying pan is heated you can fry your chicken breasts on each side (even the ends) for 30 seconds to a minute or until they are a nice golden brown color
  11. After they are done frying, You can transfer them onto a baking pan and bake them in the oven for 12-15 minutes (depending on the size)  at 350 degrees. You can check with a knife and fork to make sure they are fully cooked 

Tips

Traditionally Devolaj is served with rice and potatoes and a salad :) The more colorful your plate is, the better ! Enjoy!
