Polish Haluski or Łazanki

Pasta, cabbage and bacon ... best comfort food ever :)

Łazanki / Haluski


Ready in 40  minutes

Ingredients/What you need

  • 1 medium cabbage 
  • 1 lb of smoked bacon
  • 3 medium onions
  • package of uncooked  pasta
  • pepper
  • salt

Tips

To save some time you can cook pasta at the same time as you fry bacon with onions :)

Preparation

  1. Cook the pasta according to the cooking instructions.
  2. Safe approximately 1 1/2-2 cups of the pasta liquid before you drain it.
  3. Cut the smoked bacon into small pieces and fry for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add finely chopped onions and fry it together with bacon until it's caramelized and soft. 
  5. Cut the cabbage into bite sizes (remember to remove the core)
  6. Add the cabbage to the bacon and onions (add the pasta liquid) and cook until the cabbage is soft. 
  7. Add the pasta and mix everything together.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
